Gail Renee Ballinger

Gail Renee Ballinger, age 57, passed away May 22, 2023. She was born to Harry and Mildred Ballinger on May 11th, 1966 in Chicago, IL. Gail was the baby out of nine children of a very close knit and loving family. Gail attended and graduated from Weston House Highschool in Chicago, IL. She moved to Kentucky after her parents relocated there as well. Gail and former spouse, Tavaris Barnes had two children, Jose and Amiracle Barnes whom they adore. Later, In 2013, Gail and her children moved to Smyrna,TN to embark on a new journey. Affectionately known by her family as Nae, Gail was very beautiful, strong, kind hearted, photogenic, and graceful. She loved to laugh and was hilarious to talk with. She was one of the sweetest and happiest people around. Never once did she complain about anything. Her smile brightened every room she entered and was loved by everyone.
Gail loved her sisters and brothers and would spend countless hours talking and video chatting with them on the phone sharing laughs and memories. Besides time spent with her family, she loved dressing up and changing her hair. She loved watching movies, especially Lifetime; her favorite movie was Bridges Over Madison County. She attended Life Point Church of Smyrna, TN where they became her family away from her family and gained support, both naturally as well as spiritually. She was a mother to the core and loved watching her children grow and develop. They were her world. Most importantly, Gail loved the Lord! Unbeknownst to us, God called her home on May 22nd, 2023.
Gail was survived by her children Jose and Amiricale Barnes of Smyrna, TN; Siblings, Mary Ballinger of Cleveland, OH, Cheryl Cash (Paul Cash Sr.) of Anchorage, AK, Reese Sanders of Lexington,KY, Joyce Ballinger of Odenville, AL, Janice Ellis (Lynell Ellis Sr.) of Vinegrove, KY, Gregory Ballinger of Chicago, IL, and Renee Hayden of Frankfort, KY. Gail has many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members that she loved and they loved her dearly as well.
The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at LifePoint Church, 506 Legacy Dr, Smyrna, TN 37167 from 3pm – 5pm followed by the funeral service at 5pm.
