Gail P. Barnes

Gail P. Barnes, 71, of Hawley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 15, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edward Connolly and Edna Connolly (Ryan). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Walter Barnes Sr.

Gail was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of BVM Queen of Peace Church. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. Gail loved bringing people together, whether hosting poolside gatherings or welcoming everyone into her home. She was always busy making sure everyone was taken care of, something she did with love and pride.

Gail is survived by her six children: Laurie Soriano of Prompton, Stacey Smith of Lakeville, William Barnes of Hawley, Courtney Barnes of Lake Ariel, Amanda Sickler and her husband Jason of Lake Ariel, and Walter Barnes Jr. of Harrisburg; a sister: Janet Quinn of Brooklyn, New York; and her dear Aunt Patricia McElhinney.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brittnay Binns, Skylar Sickler, Vincent Soriano, Skylar Heenan, Connor Barnes, Erik Smith, Felicity Sickler, Patrick Smith, Ireland Sickler, and Bryleigh Sickler.

Gail was also blessed with great-grandchildren Kobe, Sawyer, Oaklynne, Josephine, Dominic, Christopher, and a soon-to-arrive Baby Barnes.

In addition to her parents and husband Gail was preceded in death by a brother Edward "Butch" Connolly, sisters Margaret "Peggy" Connolly, Carol Obojkovits and Kathleen Bader.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 4, 2025, from 6 to 9 PM at Teeters' East Chapel, 507 Church St., Hawley, PA 18428. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, Mar. 5, 2026, at BVM Queen of Peace RC Church, 505 Church St., Hawley, PA, with Rev. Richard W. Beck officiating.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides of Residential Hospice for the compassion and care they provided to Gail during the past several months.

Gail will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her!
