Gail Ann Casper passed away late Sunday evening, February 13, 2022, at home with her loving husband and dedicated caretaker, Tony Casper, by her side.
Gail was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on July 13, 1956, to Burdic and Marline Shaw. She spent most of her childhood in the College Park community in Gulfport where she lived with her family on Augustine Drive. Gail, her brother, and their cousins shared many happy times on the family's farm on Highway 53 in Lizana, where her grandparents, Buddig and Arthemese Shaw, lived and worked. During her youth, Gail attended St. Ann's Catholic Church, St. James Catholic Church, St. James Elementary School and St. John High School in Gulfport. She later attended St. Joseph's Catholic church in Gulfport.
In 1973, Gail married the love of her life, Tony Casper, when she was seventeen years old, and they remained married for 48 years. They have three beloved children - Kelly, Anthony (deceased), and Tonya, who blessed them with five grandchildren. Gail treasured times spent together with her family swimming in their pool and going on vacations. Although Gail and Tony enjoyed traveling together to various destinations abroad and in the United States, Gail's favorite vacation was the first family trip to Disney World. Gail will be remembered by her family for her kind and loving spirit, her modesty, and her commitment to always do what is right.
Gail was employed at Sam's Club from the opening of the Gulfport store in 1988 until her retirement in 2018. She worked with dedication for thirty years, assisting customers, as well as employees, as she served in various roles during her career including cashier, cashier supervisor, and personnel manager. Gail always had a kind word for others and was recognized as Employee of the Month on several occasions.
Gail will be greatly missed by her husband, Tony Casper; her children Kelly (Jeff) Bihn of Ocean Springs and Tonya (Tyree) Griffin of Gulfport; her grandchildren Katelyn Sharpe (Cody Austin), Tyler Casper, Tanner Griffin, Taedyn Griffin, and Taylyn Griffin; her brother Mike (Cindy) Shaw; brother-in-law Steven Casper; sister-in-law Cynthia Casper; cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
A memorial service for the family will be held in Gail's honor at a later date.

Mrs. Gail was one of the most genuine and sweetest women. No matter where we crossed paths, she was always so welcoming and nice with a smile on her face. We think of her often, and know this world is forever changed with her gone. She is missed. Prayers for all of you during this most difficult time

My mom was such a beautiful person, inside and out. She was the best role model and taught us kids to always do the right thing, no matter what, to always take the high road. She was very strong, the strongest woman I have ever known; whether it be fighting and beating cancer, battling other medical diagnoses, or staying true to her values, morals, and beliefs through an ever-changing world. She was the best, loving, and caring mom anyone could ever pray for and I am so happy and proud that I was fortunate enough to call her my Mama (Moma when I was younger). Mama, I love you so very much. I can smile knowing that you are finally at peace, and I know I will join you and Anthony in happiness one day.
I Love You Dearly,
Your First-Born,
Kelly

My grandma was the epitome of strength, embodying what it means to be strong of character and will. She was graceful, beautiful, classy, and funny. My grandma loved those around her unconditionally. She was sunshine, warm and bright. Time with her made a person feel lighter. I will forever miss her, her energy, her smile, and her love.

Now I know what a broken heart feels like. I'll a;ways love until the day that I die. We had a full life together, shared many good and bad times together (mostly good). It's not fair that you have suffer with all your illness that you had to go through in your later life. You were a great wife, a good mother, and there is not 1 person that could say 1 bad thing about you. RIP my Love I'll miss you every day.
