Helen L. Casper, 95 of Elm Creek passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Kinship Pointe Kearney.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Elm Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Venedith Vargas officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2026, at O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Helen was born May 19, 1930, in Central City, Neb., to Raymond and Erma (Marsh) Mesner. She was raised near Central City, Neb., and attended Central City High School, graduating in 1948. Helen then attended Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., where she earned her bachelor's degree. On June 1, 1956, Helen was united in marriage to Paul Casper in Central City, Neb. The couple made their home in Elm Creek where Helen was an elementary school teacher for 20 years.
Helen was a longtime member of the Elm Creek United Methodist Church where she was involved in several committees and played the piano for many years. She was also a member of Elm Creek Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Elm Creek Women's Club, Garden Club, Library Board, Maple Manor Board, Pantry Board and was a longtime volunteer at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeff Casper of Lincoln, Becky Casper of Kearney, and Scott Casper of Lincoln; grandchildren, Tova (Rob) Shaffer of Kearney and Jesse (Caree) Hubbard of San Diego, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Shayleen Thompson, Isabella Hubbard, Olivia Brummert, Quinten, Evan and Cecilia Shaffer, Madalynn Hubbard and Taygan Smail; great great-grandchildren, Sabrina and Violet Leach; brother, William (Lillian) Mesner of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Selma Mesner of Central City, Grayce Mesner of Lacon, Ill., and Lois Mesner of Victoria, British Columbia; as well as many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Casper; infant son, David Paul Casper; grandsons, John Paul Hubbard and Tyson Hubbard; siblings, Dale (Marian) Mesner, Neil Mesner, Philip Mesner, Elizabeth (Louis) Lindahl and Warren Mesner; and sister-in-law, Kay Mesner.
