Obituary for Gail Crock

Gail (Zavatter) Crock, of Pittsfield, Mass, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at Laurel Brook Nursing Home in Mt. Laurel, NJ, after having just spent a wonderful weekend and birthday surrounded by her children. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and love of life touched everyone who knew her.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael William Crock, with whom she shared not only a deep love but also a special bond working side by side with his racehorses. Their partnership-both in life and in the stables-was a source of pride and joy that she carried in her heart long after his passing in 2013.

Gail was a loving mother to her two daughters, Stacey and Nicole Crock, who were the lights of her life. She also leaves behind Nicole's fiancé, Donald Peretin, her soon-to-be son-in-law, and looks down fondly from above, awaiting the day Stacey's boyfriend, Christopher Squazzo, officially joins the family.

Her family also includes her cherished sisters, Cheryl Kruzel and Tracy Zavatter, her brother, Dale Zavatter, and her late brother, Daniel Zavatter, Jr. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel Zavatter, Sr., and Gabriel Honiker, as well as her stepmother, Theresa Zavatter.

Gail had a lifelong love for animals and was rarely without a dog by her side-especially her loyal Shih Tzu, Frankie, and Stacey's sweet Apollo. Her green thumb brought beauty into her world through her love of gardening and flowers, and she could always be counted on for a good shopping trip or to cheer passionately for her favorite team, the New England Patriots, from a South Jersey home!

She also loved to play cards with friends, especially during the years she and Michael shared together, and she never turned down a trip to the casino. Whether it was a friendly game around the table or the excitement of the slot machines, Gail's laughter and competitive spirit made every moment more fun.

Those who knew Gail will remember her generous heart, smirky smiles, and unwavering devotion to her family and the animals she loved so dearly. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A service will be held in November (15th tentatively) and a celebration of Gail's life will be held in the Spring, a season she loved so much. Details will be shared when arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a local animal shelter or rescue organization.
