Donna Gail Parker Grant, 73, of Glenwood passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 23, 2025. She closed her eyes in sleep on Earth and opened them in her heavenly home. Born December 4, 1951, Gail was the daughter of the late Charles Glenn and Thelma Seay Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Sue Parker, and her beloved husband, Gregory Jack Grant, with whom she is now gloriously reunited.
Gail was a graduate of Glenwood High School and taught for 30-plus years, touching the lives of countless students, parents, and fellow educators. She returned to school later in life and earned both her masters degree and doctorate in Christian Education. However, the most important event in Gail’s life was April 14, 1959, when she accepted Christ as her Saviour.
She was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang with her family most of her life. Gail married Rev. Gregg Grant on June 22, 1975, and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage until he went to be with the Lord in 2018. She was a godly mother, devoted to her family, and adored being “Mom-Mom” to her grandchildren. Also, Gail’s daily Scripture ministry was a blessing and encouragement to many.
Gail was beloved by her family and friends who will miss her greatly. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Michelle Grant of the home, son, Gregory Michael Grant (Regenia) of Henderson, NC, sister, Kathy Parker Hager (Kevin) of Denver, NC, two grandsons, William Gregory Grant and Elijah Michael Grant, niece, Christina Hartzell (Ryan), three nephews, Joshua Hager, Brandon Grant (Hannah), and Shawn Grant, and three great-nephews, Jaxon Hartzell, Ryder Hartzell, and Kayson Grant.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at West Court Street Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 28, also at West Court with Dr. Michael Grant and Rev. Kevin Hager officiating. Interment will be at the West Court Cemetery with Bro. Joshua Hager performing the graveside service.
The family would like to thank Beam Funeral Services for their help. Also, they would like to give a special thanks to the staff of DaVita McDowell County Dialysis for their exemplary love and care.
