Lena Gail Griffing, 71, of Florence passed away Friday, December 5, 2025, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
She was born on February 18, 1954, in Jefferson City, MO, a daughter of E.J. and Mary Lou (Lairmore) Jackson.
On September 26, 1975, at the Florence United Methodist Church, Gail was united in marriage to Clarence N. Griffing, Jr., who preceded her in death on March 30, 2007.
Gail was a member of the Florence United Methodist Church. She worked for 15 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia, where her caring nature and gentle spirit touched the lives of many residents. Alongside her career in caregiving, she also worked tirelessly on and around the family farm.
In her free time, Gail enjoyed sewing and embroidering, tending to her garden, and spending time outdoors. She loved playing cards, dancing, and listening to her favorite music—especially Elvis Presley and Diana Ross & The Supremes.
Though she lived a simple life, Gail’s heart was rich with love. Nothing brought her more joy than her family, especially her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were truly the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara Lou Griffing, Leanna Marie Rasa (Roy) all of Florence; three siblings, Brenda Woolery (Larry) of Clarksburg, Dorothy Broxtermann (Bill) of Urbana, Kenneth Jackson (Deborah) of Heritage; two granddaughters, Sonya Monteer (Austin), and Megan Craig (Noah); four great-grandchildren, Sophia and Eleanor Monteer, and Kayson and Scottie Craig; sisters-in-law, Marlene Schroder (Dwight) of Florence, and Wanda Carver of Tipton.
In addition to both of her parents and her husband Gail was preceded in death by a brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Linda Griffing; three sisters-in-law, Connie Winnie, Patricia Yarnell, and Linda Waren; one niece, Amanda Woolery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the Florence United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church with burial to follow in the Florence United Methodist Cemetery.
