Martha Elizabeth Griffing

Martha Elizabeth Griffing, age 95, of Niceville, Florida, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida. She was born January 21, 1930, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to John Cullom and Margaret Elizabeth Huffman Floyd. Martha attended Mary Baldwin College and earned Bachelor of Arts degree in 1952 from Vanderbilt University. She was a homemaker. Martha enjoyed bridge, needlepoint, cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, reading, Sudoku and entertaining. Martha was a member of the Presbyterian church. Her special sayings were "I'm trying to behave myself", I'm behaving myself", and "Don't do anything I wouldn't do".
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Floyd; siblings; John C. Floyd, Jr. and Robert H. Floyd; spouse, Lt. Col. Walter E. Griffing; and daughter, Elizabeth Anne Griffing Pilcher;
Martha is survived by son, John E. Griffing (Sherry); son, Jerry W. Griffing; son in law, Joseph Thomas (Jody) Pilcher III; grandchildren, Heidi Kaye Griffing Finch, Joseph Thomas Pilcher, IV (Ginnie), William C. Bolander, Eric Griffing Pilcher, Jaime Pilcher Ward (Tripp), Sara Caroline Griffing, Caleb Ray Griffing, Preston Eli Griffing, Katie Elizabeth Griffing and Paisley Marie Griffing; great grandchildren, Andrew Hunter Finch, Hanna Kaye Finch, Joseph Thomas Pilcher, V, Tinsley Ann Pilcher, Elizabeth Jemison Pilcher, Robert Winn Pilcher, William Floyd Pilcher, Emmary Anne Pilcher, Thad Anderson Ward, Ellie Sinclair Ward, Virginia Sinclair Pilcher, Thea Marie Bolander, Lisa Amelia Paige Bolander, Cory Willy Bullard Bolander, Tilly Anna Victory Bolander, Jasmine Olivia Whisper Bolander, Eitan Andrew Oliver Bolander and Sawyer Monte Jack Bolander; and great great grandchild, Bruce Maddox Finch.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 11:30 AM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be one hour prior at 10:30 AM. Minister Mike Dimick will be officiating. Interment will be in Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Florida.
