Gail Joseph

Gail Joseph, 82, of Saratoga passed away on the 14th of February, Valentines Day. She survived her husband, Dr. Ronald Joseph, who passed away 6 weeks earlier on Christmas Day, 2025. Her life was marked by reliability and dedication to those who surrounded her, volunteer work for those who were less fortunate, travel and adventure, and an overwhelmingly abiding love for her family and friends.

Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, to George and Sylvia (Heiman) Lubowitz, Gail grew up working at the flower shop owned by her parents. She received her B.A. from the State University of New York, Buffalo. After an early career centered on social work, she quickly pivoted to life as a full-time wife and mother supporting her husband's medical career, which brought them to California - first to San Diego, then to an orthopedics residency at Stanford University in the Bay Area. And they never looked back.

Gail embraced life in California through the Jewish Community which was the bedrock for her young family. She was a long-time member of Congregation Beth David in Saratoga, and a volunteer with Jewish Federation as well as several other organizations over the years. She also served as a volunteer in many capacities at the Butter Paddle in Los Gatos, and at one point was its most-tenured volunteer over her 30+ year stint.

Gail, known for her characteristic warmth and keen sense of humor and decorum, was a loyal friend to all who knew her. But the greatest joy of her life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She shared three sons and four grandchildren with her husband Ron, with whom she travelled extensively and shared countless family milestones throughout nearly 60 years together.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a gracious mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, colleague and friend. She is survived by her sons Jeff (Cristina Meiser), Michael (Erin), and Peter (Sydney); grandchildren Reina, Tristan, Rowan and Amari Joseph; brother Paul Lubowitz (Debby) and sisters-in-law Susan Saponaro of Winchester, MA and Wendy Glasser, also of Saratoga. She is predeceased by her parents George and Sylvia (Heiman) Lubowitz, and her husband, Dr. Ronald Joseph.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20th at 11:00am at Darling Fischer Chapel of the Hills, 615 N. Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos. Interment will follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Rd., San Jose at 12:30pm.
