Catherine “Gail” Oldham, 69, of Carthage passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Putnam Friends Church with Rev. Robert Kidd presiding. The family will receive friends from 12:00-12:45 pm at the church prior to the service.
Gail was born in Moore County on November 15, 1953 to Vernon and Angie Mashburn Oldham. She was a member of Putnam Friends Church and retired as the Carthage Branch Vice-President of BB&T, after over 40 years of service. Gail lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling abroad, the beach, gardening and helping people. She loved her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Upchurch and nephew, Shane Upchurch.
Gail is survived by her son, Charles Childress, of Aberdeen; sister, Pam O. Brady (Gary), of Carthage; grandchildren, Brooks Childress (Savannah) and Nathan Childress; great-grandchild, Lila Childress; nieces, Shelly Lindley (Russell), Amy Comer, and Hollie Seawell (Jerrell), all of High Falls; nephews, Chad Upchurch, of High Falls and Houston Brady (Kelly), of West End; brother-in-law, Jackie Upchurch, of High Falls; several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews and a host of family and friends.
Special thanks to Gail’s caregivers, Shonda Davis and Jessica Garner for unconditional love above and beyond measure and the special care given by Lawanda Tanner with Hospice during this difficult time.
