Gale Lynne Kazlauskas
Gale Lynne Kazlauskas, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in New Britain, Connecticut, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 22, 1941, in Waterbury, CT, Gale was the daughter of Vernon and Harriet (Tier) Krom. She grew up in Waterbury's East End, alongside her brother, Kenneth, attending local schools and forming lifelong connections in the community.
In 1958, Gale married Algis Kazlauskas, and together they raised five children in Morris, CT. After Al's passing in 1987, she continued to nurture her growing family with strength, grace, and love. Later in life, she made her home in Deltona, Florida, and then in Bethlehem, Connecticut, sharing her days with her partner, Richard Shaw.
A devoted mother, Gale is survived by four of her children: Rita DiLeo (John) of Cheshire, David Kazlauskas (Kathleen Dempsey) of Waterbury, Regina Maitland (Peter) of Morris, and Richard Kazlauskas (Eileen Irwin) of Morris. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Alan Kazlauskas.
Gale was a proud grandmother of ten and great-grandmother of ten. Her gentle spirit and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Gale earned a nursing degree and spent much of her career caring for others, working at Whitewood Manor Nursing Home, in Waterbury, and later at Southbury Training School. Her gift for caregiving extended far beyond her profession-she was a quiet teacher, offering wisdom without pretense and raising her family with humor, patience, and unwavering devotion.
A lifelong reader, Gale also loved music, swimming, game shows, and long porch conversations with friends and family. Her calm demeanor, quick wit, and easy laugh made her a joy to be around.
It would be remiss not to mention the deep affection Gale had for animals. Over the years, she lovingly cared for many pets. In her later years, her beloved dogs, Misty and Jack, were her constant companions-doted on and spoiled in all the best ways.
In addition to her parents, husband, Algis, and son, Alan, Gale was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Krom.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, at Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Litchfield. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
