Gale Lord

1942 - 2023

Gale Lord, 81, of Ennis, formerly of Beaumont, died Friday, December 1, 2023, at Legend Oaks Health Care and Rehabilitation of Ennis. She was born on July 28, 1942, to Vivian and Otis Charles Galloway, in Beaumont.

Gale Lord spent most of her life in Beaumont and graduated from South Park High School where she met the love of her life, John Lord. Gale and John both played tennis for the South Park Greenies where Gale had much success in school tournaments and in the city championships and Labor Day tournament. She also enjoyed participating in the Neches River Festival as a Princess. After high school, Gale and John married, celebrated over 40 years of marriage, and had 3 children.

Gale worked at Alter's Gem Jewelry until she became a full-time mom and homemaker. She was a long-time member of Cathedral in the Pines, and she shared many lifelong friendships. She loved her family and always put them first. Gale always wanted to know how everyone was doing, including the pets. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mom, daughter-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend.

After losing her son and husband to cancer, Gale moved to Legend Oaks in Ennis, Texas. There she was a good friend to the residents and played bingo on a regular basis. Gale loved the staff and always thanked them for the work they did. She was so generous, making sure they had gifts around Christmas and that they knew they were appreciated. Gale will be remembered for her beautiful smile, strength, love for family and friends, and faith in God. She loved everyone and always made sure they felt loved.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Legend Oaks in Ennis and Bristol Hospice for the loving kindness and care they showed to Gale.

Survivors include her daughters, Kelly Herr and her husband, Jefferey, of Beaumont and Kathy Lowery and her husband, Lee, of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Lain Herr of Denver, Colorado, Cameron Lowery and his wife, Kassidy of Rice, Madeline Herr of Houston, John Herr of Keller, and Camilie Lowery of Waxahachie; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Brooks, and Koe; loving sister-in-law, Jane Bernard and her husband, Wayne, of Houston; and niece, Kristen Bernard and husband, Michael, of Maryland; and nephew, Phillip Bernard.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of over forty years, John Robert Lord; son, Bobby Lord; and brother, Randy Galloway.

A gathering of Mrs. Lord's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at Broussard's, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
