Galen Moomaw, 89, of Wooster, went to be with his Lord Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Galen was born on October 10, 1935, in Smithville to Ivan and Thelma {Krause} Moomaw.
He married Evie Eberly on June 13, 1959. She passed away in 2022.
Galen impacted many lives, not just those of his family. He and Evie led junior high “Conquerors” for many years. He volunteered with the college-age group after retirement. Most recently he was involved in a mentoring program at the local schools. He was a career farmer and later worked as a business manager for Grace Church, of which he had been a member since the 1960’s. Galen had many hobbies including carpentry, photography, building robots, programing computers, e-bikes, Tesla, and all things technology. He was a lifelong learner with a curious mind.
Galen will be deeply missed by children daughter Jacqui (Steve) Hohulin of Arlington, TX, sons Tim (Carol) Moomaw and Randy (Jackie) Moomaw all of Wooster; grandchildren Jill (Nicole) Moomaw, Holly (David) Lewis, Emily (Victor) Weyant, Taylor (Lindsey) Hohulin, Nathan Hohulin, Erin (Luis) Carbajal, Kyle (Mariah) Moomaw, Tyler (Katie) Moomaw; his 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister Marjorie (Chuck) Buriff of Wooster.
A Celebration of Life will be at Grace Church on Saturday March 1 at 10 a.m. with his son Pastor Randy Moomaw officiating, A reception will follow from 10:45 until noon. The burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster. Roberts Funeral Home – Sherwood Chapel, Wooster is assisting with arrangements.
