Words can't describe how bad I feel. He was my favorite teacher, and he had the most impact upon me of any teacher in my life. He saw a 16 year old kid, lacking in self-confidence, and inspired me to become a success in life. I'm so glad I reached out to him a year and half ago, after nearly 4 decades. Melody and I had dinner with him and Cindy. I wanted to thank him for all he did for me. Then last summer, I went to visit them at their wonderful home off East Ave and spend an hour or two with them. Sent a Christmas card to them over the holidays. He was a great guy. I'll always remember arguing with him about the answers to a test...and getting credit for them. Was it my answers or because he listened...to me, to all of us...
and he treated us like young adults, not just a bunch of kids. I hope every student has the opportunity to have a teacher as good, as inspiring, as Gar.

So sorry for your loss. Gar Lowenguth was a big influence on me. He was my teacher in 1978 & 79. He gave me the confidence to believe in myself. For that I am forever grateful. May all your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time.
