Gar Fow "Mike" Moy

Gar Fow (Mike) Moy, aged 96, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on July 7th, 2024, at the Pavilion Health Center at Brightmore. Born in Taishan, Guangdong Province, China, to Ha Ling Moy and Siu Lan Yeung, Gar lived in Waxhaw for 12 years, previously having resided for 20 years in Ft. Meyers, FL. He moved to the United States in 1947 and settled in Riverside, IL, a suburb of Chicago. He opened and operated a successful Chinese restaurant and he raised a family. For many years he enjoyed serving customers in the Riverside, IL area and took pride in the excellent Chinese cuisine he offered at his restaurant. Over the years, he became known as "Mike" to his loyal customers and friends. In his free time, when he wasn't busy with the restaurant or raising his family, he enjoyed bowling with his friends and also in league events. He even scored a near perfect game during his bowling career with a 279 score. Gar retired after over 35 years in the restaurant business, and enjoyed spending his time gardening, running, and, in his later years, walking. He was also an avid fan of many professional sports and enjoyed watching them on television. Despite leaving the Chicago area, he continued his love of Chicago foods such as Italian beef sandwiches, pizza, and hot dogs. It is fair to say that he loved food and sharing it with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, Gar is preceded in death by 10 siblings, and by his late wife, Choi Sim Wong Moy. He is survived by his two sons, Harding Moy and Tony (Mary) Moy, and six grandchildren, Hailey, Camryn (David) Moy-Meier, Matthew, Ethan, Jonathan, and Ryan.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024, from 9AM to 10AM at Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Rd, Garnet Valley, PA followed by a funeral service at 10AM. Interment to follow at Edgewood Memorial Park, Glen Mills, PA. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com.
