I am so sorry that Gary is gone. There is not many of us "Tarrytowners" left. We knew each other way back in the 40s and 50s in our tiny little boarding school high up on the hill overlooking the Hudson in Tarrytown, NY. There were only about 100 students comprising all the grades from 2nd to 8th.. During those years we all became brothers and sisters, within our levels. I had such a crush on him. I was 11. We kept in touch through the years thereafter, especially since he lived always a block away from me, in the East 80s of the UES of Manhattan. He sits in my Bernarr McFadden Tarrytown Archive, with a picture that I love. Farewell dear Gary as I only knew you.

I knew "Gary Hansen" later Garitt Kono in Tarrytown grammar school. There are not many of us left now. I am 85. I remember when he lived across the street from me her in Manhattan in both
apartments way back then. I still look up in that bay window, as I still pass by, where he had the barber's chair, and the party he had where he had the wrong guy in mind for me. LOL. Also ran into him in the hardware store in East Hampton. When I was 11, I had such a crush on him, but was too scared to say anything. Later we kept in touch for awhile until he scolded me for sending too many chain emails, so I stopped. Occasionally, we spoke on the phone, with some photos back and forth. But in the last few weeks my brain kept thinking about him, so I just tried now, much to my shock. I will notify the others, and I send my condolences to the whole family. He was a great guy!

Kono Family, sorry to read of Garitt's passing. Its been years since I've seen him, in Bambino Baseball. A good guy and devoted father. R.I.P.
