Garland Combs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Midwest Cremation & Funeral Services, LLC - Springfield on Dec. 9, 2025.
Garland Eugene Combs, 84, of Strafford, MO passed away December 5th, 2025, in his home with his loving wife, Barbara at his side.

Garland was born December 22nd, 1940, in Bradleyville, MO, and was the son of Granville and Gladys Combs. He grew up in Bradleyville as a young boy farming with his dad, raising crops to survive in the Ozark hill country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Gladys; four brothers; six sisters; one daughter, Marla; and one grandson, Ethan. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; brother, David and wife Kathy of Bismark, Ark; brother, Benny and wife Linda of Tool, TX; son, Tony and wife Regina of Strafford, MO; daughter, Tammy and husband Mark of Rogersville, MO; son, Randy and wife Jessica of Fernely, NV; and daughter, Melissa of Ava, MO.

Garland was a carpenter most all his life and known for his hard work ethic and humor. He always had witty things to say which kept his co-workers amused and made him a joy to work with. He had a passion for hunting (especially coon hunting), fishing, and working on his old '47 Mercury. He found joy in spending time with his family and watching wildlife in his later years when he couldn't leave the house.

He was a devoted husband to wife, Barbara; dad to Tony, Tammy, Randy, Melissa and Marla; a proud grandfather to Melissa, Brandon, Michael, Brittany, Zack, Benjamin, Nathan, Deanna and Misty; many great grandchildren; and a host of friends and family members. The Lord truly blessed him!

Garland will be deeply missed by all of us until that glad day when we meet Jesus and are reunited with loved ones.

A Celebration of Life and burial will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideons International.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.
