MR. GARLAND RAY SHUMAKE

The family of Garland Ray Shumake of Philadelphia, Mississippi, is saddened to announce his passing on November 22, 2025, at the age of 60. Garland was born on July 6, 1965, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Dempsey Shumake and Zulene Dixon.

Garland was a devoted brother, uncle, and-most importantly-a father to Jeremy Vaughn and Nicklaus Shumake. He was also a proud grandfather to his three grandchildren: Ja'leiah, Jaciryn, and Jordyn Vaughn.

A hardworking man, Garland built a career as a general laborer, a testament to his talent, skill, and physical strength. He was known for having the biggest heart and definitely no stranger to anyone. Garland could always bring the laughs to the crowd. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends will never be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dempsey Shumake; mother, Zulene Dixon; brothers, Infant Randall Crenshaw Shumake, Infant John Randall Shumake, Hurley Russell Shumake, and Alex Randy Shumake; sister, Rexalene Steve, Annie Merle Isaac, and Glorianna Shumake.

He is survived by two sons: Jeremy Vaughn and Nicklaus Crenshaw Shumake. He also leaves behind one sister, Maybelline Shumake of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; two brothers, Leonard Shumake of Conehatta Mississippi, and Jerry Lee Shumake of Conehatta, Mississippi; grandchildren Ja'leiah, Jaciryn, and Jordyn Vaughn; and a

multitude of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A graveside service will be held at St. Catherine's Church in Conehatta, Mississippi, on November 25, 2025, at 10am.
