Garner Lathan “G.L.” Crocker, 83, entered into rest on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
G.L. was born on February 3, 1941, in Preston, Mississippi to the late John Lathan and Mary Ellen Crocker. Raised in Marion, Mississippi, he attended and graduated from Lauderdale High School in 1959. Following his graduation, he enlisted and honorably served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. During his time in the military, he served in the Vietnam conflict. Following his service, G.L. went on to start his own waste management company, Crocker Septic Tank in 1980 until present, working his entire life. Home was always his first priority, checking in on his family throughout his day. In his free time, G.L. could be found hunting and fishing with his son, Dwayne. He will be deeply missed by those he held most dear.
In addition to his parents, G.L. was preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald Crocker and Jovanna Kelly.
His memory will forever be treasured by his wife of 22,265 days (61 years), Glenda Johnson Crocker; children, Dwayne Crocker (Kelly) of Byron and Kimberly Jo Cox (Ricky) of Byron; grandchildren, Clayton Crocker (Mitchell), Kalyn Crocker, Jessie Cox, and Melissa Cox Welch (Gage); great-grandchildren, Remi, Emery, and Waylon; brother, Seals Crocker (Shirley) of Meridian, Mississippi; and pets, Callie and Maggie, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Later, G.L. will be laid to rest in Andersonville National Cemetery.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of G.L. Crocker to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund at 1322 Feagin Mill Road, Warner Robins, Georgia 31088.
