Garnett Marie Neukirchner, 69, of Frankfort, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Kettering Health, in Dayton. She was born on June 20, 1956, in Louisa, Kentucky a daughter of Nathan and Agnes Leola McKinney Hammond. On March 16, 1979, she married Frank H. Neukirchner, and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2019.
She is survived by her mother, Leola Hammond of Louisa, Kentucky, five children, Tina (Tommy) Skirvin of Madison, Indiana, Tasha (Teresa) Neukirchner of Kettering, Farrah (Brian) Smith of Frankfort, Frank (Jessica) Neukirchner of Frankfort, and Jess Neukirchner of Frankfort, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, two sisters, Pamela Hinton of Frankfort, Kathy Hammond of Frankfort, three brothers, Danny Ray (Debbie) Hammond of Chillicothe, William Nathan Hammond of North Carolina, Homer Hammond of Chillicothe, and Jonathan (Hannah) Hammond of Louisa, Kentucky, son-in-law, Arlie Colvin of Kent, Indiana, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathan Hammond, two daughters, Penny Edgington, and Ruby Colvin, as well as two brothers, Ezra J. Hammond, and Jimmy J. Hammond.
Garnett was a 1974 graduate of Unioto High School. She worked many years taking care of numerous children as a daycare provider at Nana’s Daycare. She cared for many children and had a lasting impression on their lives. She was often referred to as “Mommy Nan.” Garnett loved trips to the beach, and spending time with her family. She loved being hostess to her family and was key in bringing everyone together for holidays and family gatherings.
A funeral service for Garnett will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 4 p.m. in Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort. Family and friends may visit with Garnett’s family on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In keeping with Garnett’s wishes cremation will follow. Those who wish to share a memory of Garnett may do so by signing her online register book.
