Garry A. Brooks, Sr.

76, of Somerville, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

He was born February 13, 1949, in Cincinnati, to the late Herbert A. and Anna (Wiggins) Brooks.

In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Nulph; granddaughter, Sienna Nulph; step daughter, Karen Rider; and siblings, Betty, Lydia, Florence, Pearl, George, and Roy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patricia Brooks; children, Garry (Loretta) Brooks Jr, Dustin Brooks, and Steve (Jennifer) Ferris; grandchildren, Dylan and Haley Nulph, Bailey, Jagger, Jayden, Kaitlyn, and Jonathan Brooks, Charles Anthony, Dora Amburgey, Sky MacKenzie, Sage Madison, Trinity Cadence, Steven III, and Summer Shyanne Ferris, Andrea Farthing, and Brianna Ditmer; and brothers, Bill (Linda) Brooks and Marvin (Bonnie) Brooks.

While serving his country, Garry was stationed in Germany, where he earned the Sharpshooter Medal for his skill and precision. He carried that same steady hand and calm focus into civilian life, where he found peace in nature, often out hunting coyotes or practicing with his rifle. The quiet solitude of the outdoors was where Garry felt most at home.

Back in Somerville, Garry was a familiar and cherished figure, often seen riding his bike through town with a wave and a smile. He was known and loved by everyone, a neighbor who always had time to stop and chat or lend a helping hand. Whether it was his military pride, his down-to-earth way of life, or his genuine friendliness, Garry made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 21 from 11AM to 12PM at Somerville Community Church, 207 Walnut Street, Somerville 45064. The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Mark Crary officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Somerville Cemetery.
