Obituary of Gary C Agger
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Gary Cedric Agger (also known as "Jaja" to his beloved grandchildren & family).
Gary passed unexpectedly on December 01, 2022 in his retired home town of Apollo Beach Florida. Gary was born on January 25, 1952 to Janet & Robert Agger in Portland where he attended Portland schools, which is where he met the love of his life, his wife Marcia (Anderson) Agger. The two wed in 1971 and recently celebrated 50 years of a beautiful marriage together. Gary dedicated his life to helping others. A retired Portland Police Officer, Police Athletic League Mentor & Coach, Disability Insurance Fraud Investigator, College Basketball Referee, Multi-Youth Sports Coach, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother-in-Law, Father-in-Law, Uncle, Cousin and Friend. Of all the jobs, roles & achievements he fulfilled, he would say that his greatest accomplishment in life was his Family. While Gary left us far too soon, his impact on the community will be felt for years to come. Gary was an exceptional man in every aspect of his life. Those who were fortunate enough to know him, know that he would (and did) give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to anyone in need. A humble man that helped so many, he had an extraordinary ability to connect to people. There are numerous examples & stories of his generosity and acts of kindness - many still untold to this day. Gary led by example and had a saying that " you are who you are when no one is watching". He would often travel the streets looking for someone in need of a meal, warm clothes, a person to talk to or someone needing to know that at least one person out there cared about them. Gary was a kind man, a compassionate and deeply caring man who always saw the good in a person. He taught the value of hard work, integrity, doing the right thing and that we are all equal. A huge animal lover, he couldn't walk by one of God's creatures without giving it a pat on the head or a kiss on the nose! Gary made a difference in many lives and will be greatly missed. His love for life and his family will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Marcia (Anderson) Agger, his three children: daughter Jennifer Agger ( and partner Greg Collymore), daughter April (Agger) Rogers and son Robert "Bobby" Agger (and wife Katie (Sullivan) Agger); his six grandchildren: Meghan & Jordan Agger (Jennifer's daughters), Olivia & Lindsay Rogers (April's daughters) and Josephine & Charlise Agger (Bobby & Katie's daughters) and his beloved cat Gracie aka Doobas.
In lieu of flowers, Gary would just love for people to pay it forward in any way that would bring
kindness to others. We can't think of a better way to honor Gary's legacy.

And now he rests...but not before leaving a legacy that inspired all who knew him and many who didn't.
Gary's light was always the brightest, he was a true "gentle" man, one of a kind. Gary was selfless, loyal, generous, dependable, fair, wise, compassionate, trustworthy, sincere, diplomatic, non-judgemental, kind, loving, patient, grateful and humble, a real family man. And that's just the beginning....He truly changed many, many lives for the better and forever.

Separately and together, Gary and Marcia were/are glowing examples of kindness and grace.

Anyone that was fortunate enough to call him friend, was fortunate enough!

May we all honor his legacy by emulating the HUMAN he was. Spread his light!

All my love to Marcia, Jenn, April, Bobby, Meghan, Jordan, Olivia, Lindsay, Josie and Charlise

My condolences to Marcia and all of Gary´s family. I went to Portland schools with Gary. I remember him as kind, fair, and a gentleman. In later years, we worked for the same company where he was a fraud investigator. He was a good man. I am saddened he has passed.

Gary was a fantastic role model to youth of all ages. I remember him as officer friendly umpiring all those summer softball & kickball games. I especially appreciated all the times he took my Boys & Girls Club PAL kickball and softball teams for ice cream. You were truly a hero, Gary!

Gary was a competitor and that is how I knew him. Competing against him forced me to be better. I admired and respected him for that. I admired his service to his hometown and beyond. My deepest condolences to his family. Truly a great man has left us too soon. Rest in peace Gary.

My condolences to the Agger family during this difficult time. I had the good fortune of having known Gary since grade school. We crossed paths on the Little League field, and later on as adults, in the classroom and on the basketball court. Throughout his life he carried himself with an air of dignity, grace and class. With his kind words and good sense of humor, Gary was someone who made you feel better about yourself by being around him. You will be greatly missed. RIP

So many wonderful memories of Mr. Agger...he was the cool parent and coach that insisted we call him Gary growing up. He was always quick with a smile and an encouraging word. A teacher, coach, ref, mentor and friend. He was all of these to me personally, and I always admired the Agger family. Gary and Marcia were the stunning, (beautiful inside and out) fun couple, that lived by example, and their home was a constant of love and support. My deepest sympathy to Marcia, Jenn, April, Bobby, and the extended Agger family. Your love will continue his legacy and his profound impact to the community. Prayers for you all.

My condolences to the entire Agger family.A man that taught all of us so many things and was always there to give advice and help out no questions asked...his love for his family was unconditional. You could always find him at his children's sporting events as being the number one fan and off the field it was no different.I had the privilege to spend time on the golf course with Gary and Bobby and at their house throughout high school. That smile and laid back caring attitude made everyone feel welcomed.
Love Brad and family
