Gary E. Allard, 67, of Southington, husband of Cheryl (Mondello) Allard for nearly 45 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 25, 2024, after a brief illness. 

Born on May 8, 1956 in New Britain to Frances (Kelly) Allard and the late Norman Allard, he had been a longtime Southington resident.

Soon after graduation from high school in 1974, Gary proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After he was honorably discharged in 1977, he started his first career as a Police Officer for the Town of Southington, serving for 20 years. He then started his second career with the State of Connecticut, first as a Supervisory Judicial Marshal in New Britain Superior Court, then as a Court Service Center Manager for the Waterbury Civil and Family Court, finally retiring in June of 2022.  

Besides his wife Cheryl and mother Frances, Gary leaves his son, Gary Allard and partner Lori, daughter, Jamie Allard and partner June and 3 cherished grandsons; Dominic, Kenneth and Joey. He is also survived by two sisters, Lisa Permenter (Jay) and her family and Marybeth Gordon (Scott) and her son, his mother-in-law, Antoinette Mondello and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Marc and Scott Milo, Kim Myska and Aunty Ann.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/) or to the West Haven VA Medical Center (https://www.va.gov/). 

 A funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial with military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
