Phyllis A. (Laton) Miller, 99, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, February 15, 2026. She had been the loving wife of the late Vincent "Bill" F. Miller for 59 years.
Phyllis was born in Derby, CT on March 13, 1926 to the late George and Victoria (Oliwa) Laton. She worked at the Marshalls in Cheshire, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service.
Phyllis enjoyed puzzles, playing Bingo, watching soap operas, the occasional scratch off lotto ticket and cheering for the UCONN women’s basketball team. She was an excellent baker and loved to cook; never using a recipe but always making a delicious meal. She made the best Polish dishes and her pierogi recipe is still used today at the Polish Falcon’s Nest 307 in Southington. Phyllis was a snowbird and spent many winters in Winter Springs, FL with Bill, where they took many trips to Sea World and Disney. Above all else, Phyllis’ family was most important to her and she cherished the relationships she had with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by four children: Karen Hencken and husband Fred of North Wales, PA; Chris Sokolowski and husband James of Southington; Mark Miller and wife Adriana of Trumbull and Lynn Atkins and husband Bryan of Southington and five grandchildren; Fred, Allison, Samantha, Madison and Juliette, three great-grandchildren, Theo, Mae and Caroline, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Bill, Phyllis was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kaitlyn and all of her siblings; Stephanie “Fran,” Stephen, John, Mae and Julie.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Polish Falcon Nest 307, P/O Box 149 Southington, CT 06489.
