Gary L. Allred, a beloved husband, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June8, 2024, at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Gary was born Tuesday, January 7, 1947, in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Robert Odell Allred Sr. and Letha Hughes Allred.
Outside of work, Gary found solace in his hobbies and interests. He had a passion for golfing, fishing, watching football games, and was an avid NASCAR race fan.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Martha Campbell, Joan Allred, Donnie Jean Allred, and brother Robert "Bob" O’Dell Allred Jr.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Sharlene Allred, stepdaughter, Misty Beason, granddaughters, Macy Beason and Carley Willis. He also leaves behind a brother, Ricky Allred and wife Mary, sister, Millie Lineberry and husband Jerry, sister-in-law, Sue Allred, brother-in-law, Ron Baynard, several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews as well as many special friends.
In his nearly 60-year career journey, Gary worked in textiles before venturing into a successful handyman business. Later on, he contributed his skills to the maintenance department at the Wal-Mart distribution center until his well-deserved retirement.
Gary will always be remembered for his loving and caring nature. He adored spending time with his granddaughters, Macy, and Carley. Described as a good person with a great sense of humor, who would help anybody that needed help. Gary's warm personality touched the lives of many.
A graveside service to honor and celebrate Gary's life will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Forest City, NC. The service will commence at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating.
In remembrance of Gary's kind spirit and generous heart, may he rest in peace knowing he positively impacted the lives of those around him and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to Rutherford Life Services, 230 Fairground Rd, Spindale, NC 28160.
