Gary Arnold Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Corley Funeral Home - Corsicana on Feb. 7, 2025.
Gary Glen Arnold, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025, in his hometown of Corsicana, Texas, where he also first greeted the world on August 21, 1942. Known affectionately as Gary to all who knew him, he lived a full and generous life marked by selfless devotion to his family and a passion for the simpler pleasures in life and belief and love in a God full of mercy and grace. Gary spent his formative years in Corsicana, where the roots of his close-knit family ran deep. His journey of lifelong learning began at Navarro College, where he acquired the skills that would pave the way for a successful career. Gary dedicated over three decades to the grocery retail industry, where he was a respected employee of A&P for 12 years, followed by another 12 years at Safeway before concluding his career with H-E-B until his well-deserved retirement. Gary also served in the National Guard. A man of steadfast work ethic and integrity, Gary's professional life was underscored by his involvement in various associations within the industry, where he was known for his thoughtful contributions and mentorship to many colleagues who would remember him as a guiding light and a friend. Gary's love for classic country music was more than a hobby; it was the soundtrack to his life. He enjoyed the twang of a steel guitar and the heartfelt lyrics that spoke of life's trials and tribulations. Whether he was singing or simply humming along to a tune while on the golf course, music was his companion and solace. Golf, another of Gary's great interests, was more than a pastime; it was a means to connect with friends, enjoy the outdoors, and indulge in friendly competition. His presence on the green will be deeply missed by his golfing buddies, who will fondly remember his good-natured rivalry and the laughter shared among friends. Gary was the embodiment of generosity, always extending a helping hand without a second thought. His thoughtfulness knew no bounds, and he was often the first to offer support during times of need. He led by example, showing that a selfless life is a life well-lived, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have crossed his path. He was preceded in death by beloved Mother Jessie Mae Owen-Brown (Aunt Mae) and survived by a loving family that includes his sister, Sylvia Arnold-Hopper; brothers, Carl Arnold and Terry Arnold; sister-in-law, Lynda Arnold; nieces and nephews Michael Richards, Terry Arnold Jr., Cindi Bowlling, Toby Arnold, Amy Oakley, Glendi Kang, and Carl Arnold Jr.; and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and extended family members. Each of them carries forward a piece of Gary's legacy through memories filled with joy, kindness, and love. Gary's departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who loved him, but his spirit will continue to resonate in the stories shared, the music played, and the fairways walked. As we bid farewell to a man who made the world a little brighter, a little kinder, Gary Glen Arnold's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends. As Gary makes his final journey home, we take comfort in knowing that he lived a life true to the values he held dear. In every note of a country song, every swing on the golf course, and every act of kindness, Gary's legacy will live on. We honor his memory by embracing the qualities he exemplified: generosity, thoughtfulness, and selflessness. Rest in peace, Gary; your life was a melody of compassion and a testament to the enduring power of love.
