Gary R. Asel. 83, of Sigel died Tuesday, May 28, 2024 while at Penn Highlands Dubois following a brief period of declining health.
Born at his family home in Oak Ridge on May 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Ray and Myrna Hetrick Asel.
He was a graduate of Brookville High School and attended Compton College.
He proudly and honorably served his county in the US Marine Corps.
Prior to his retirement he was employed in LA as a Telephone Technician for AT&T.
His pastimes included basketball, archery and reading.
His survivors include his son, Cary (Susan) Asel; his daughter, Rochelle Asel; his grandchildren Matthew Asel and William Broyles, Jr., his great grandchildren, Breeanna and William Broyles, III; his brother, Denny (Marion) Asel; his sisters, Darlene Ransel and Judy (Ed) Smith; as well as his former wife, Ann Asel.
His parents Ray Asel and Myrna Lingenfelter and brother-in-law, Tom Ransel preceded him in death.
Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, Pa. has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mr. Asel.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 1PM at Reynoldsville Cemetery, Jefferson County.
