On February 18, 2025, Gary Raymond Barth, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, uncle, cousin, teacher, mentor, and friend, went to be with Jesus, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
Gary was the beloved husband of 19 years to Marcell "Marcie" (née Mann) Barth, a devoted and loving father to Alexandra Elizabeth Ciola, Olivia Butterfield and her husband James, and Jamie Ciola and his partner Madison Smith. He was a cherished "Poppi" to Jayden "Jayde" Alidia, Dezi Townsend, Kaulder Butterfield, Jasper Butterfield, and Xander Butterfield, who brought him endless joy.
He was welcomed into heaven by his loving parents, Paul Albert and Marie Lois (née Gebhardt) Barth, as well as his dear father and mother-in-law, James and Floramae (née Hall) Mann. He leaves behind his aunts Doris Peterson and her husband Ronald, and Charlotte Blazek and her late husband Raymond; his cousins Wayne Blazek, Ronald Blazek, Rhonda Messick and Matthew Messick; his sister-in-law Gail (nee Mann) Flynn and her husband Dan; and nieces Emilie Flynn and her husband Burke, and Anna (nee Flynn) Boonstra and her husband Tucker, along with several great-nieces and nephews. His extended family, Paul and Holly Doerr and their children Joy, Justin, and Beth, along with numerous friends, colleagues, students, and his cherished "buttercups," will miss him dearly.
Gary lived a life of selflessness, always extending his love, support, and a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a quiet yet sharp sense of humor, often accompanied by a warm smile and contagious laughter. His strong Christian faith guided him, and he led by example with humility and compassion. A passionate teacher, he inspired generations of students by sharing the gospel of Jesus and making math fun at Baltimore Lutheran School, now Concordia Preparatory School.
Baseball was one of Gary's greatest joys-whether coaching, cheering for his beloved Orioles, or playing with his grandchildren, he embraced the game wholeheartedly. He also had a love for trivia, food (especially his Wendy's Frosty's), and planning family vacations, which he would surprise his loved ones with every Christmas. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by family, and celebrating his grandchildren.
Gary's life was one of love, laughter, and generosity; his kind spirit touched the hearts of everyone he met. He made the world a better place, and his presence will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends at the Lassahn Funeral Home, Inc., 7401 Belair Road in Overlea, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:30 am, followed by his burial at Parkwood Cemetery. In honor of Gary and his love for baseball, the family invites guests to wear orange or Orioles attire to celebrate his passion for the game.
