CWO4, Gary Lynn Baumer (USMC, Ret.), 66, of Havelock, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at his home.
A funeral service to honor Gary's life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 5th at First Baptist Church in Havelock. For those unable to attend, the funeral service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the family will be meeting at Sylvan Springs Park in St. Louis, Missouri at 1 p.m. to go in procession to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
Gary was born on October 11, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his father, Emil Baumer and mother, Opal Baumer. He pursued his passion for aviation and education, graduating from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Gary dedicated 23 years of his life to the United States Marine Corps, embodying the core values of honor, courage, and commitment.
In his leisure time, Gary enjoyed being on the golf course and gardening. He spent many hours at the local food pantry helping his community which he loved. Gary and his wife lived in Havelock for over half their lives. A man of faith and a true patriot, Gary held a deep love for Jesus, his family, and country. He cherished every moment spent with loved ones, leaving behind memories that will be forever treasured.
Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Carol Baumer; father, Emil Baumer; daughters, Elizabeth Jean Brogden (Travis), Mary Lynn Baumer, Grace Louise Messick (Zachary), Katheryn Ruth Baumer; brother, Larry Eugene Baumer; and grandchildren, Emma and Beau Brogden, Theo Baumer, and Odin Messick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
