Gary Blalock (Pa/Pops)
December 13. 1940 - August 30, 2023
Born in Albemarle, NC to Pauline Lambert Blalock and Leon Blalock who preceded him in death as did a grandson, Dakota Barfield.
He graduated from Albemarle Senior High School in 1957 and Nashville Automotive and Technical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He retired after 55 Years in the Welding and Metal Fabrication Industry. He was an active volunteer for many years in the Stanly County Rescue Squad.
He was an avid Harley Davidson rider as long as his health would allow, making many friends and memories along the way. Charity rides were a favorite of his. He was one of the original riders in the Frosty Balls charity ride on Thanksgiving Day, which became an annual event.
He was a Corvette enthusiast for many years owning many different models and enjoyed attending shows and cruise ins all over the East Coast. He enjoyed seeing the different styles and talking with people about their cars.
He is survived by his children, Kelley(Lisa) Blalock, Cindy(Bobby) Barfield, and Tracy(Amy) Blalock. Gary was loved by his grandchildren, Hunter(Taylor) Blalock, Reed(Justin) Blalock, Dakota Blalock (Jeremy Laton), Lainey (Luke) Wagoner, and Macy Barfield (Seth Mathieu). He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, NC.
