Gary Shelby Boston, age 78, of Cedar Lake left this world peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. He is survived by his daughters, Shari (Mike) Ward, Sherrece Stricklin, Shelby Boston-Ewing (Horn Popplewell), Cindy (Eric) Yuhasz; brother, Larry (Karen) Boston; sister, Myrna Montsdeoca; nephew, Jerry (Beth) Montsdeoca; multiple grandchildren, Ashley (William) Klimasara, Sarah Ward, Beau Stricklin, Brennen Stricklin (Jessica Smith), Brett Ewing (Bridget King), Blake Ewing, Alexis Yuhasz and Nolan Yuhasz; and great grandchildren, Thailor Klimasara and Emmie Stricklin; Gary is also survived by his longtime girlfriend, Marie Kainrath whom he shared many happy memories with from traveling the world to their very first senior prom.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Boston; parents, Orville and Ella Boston, granddaughter, Brooklyn Ewing; and son-in-law, Roger Stricklin.
Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Burdan Funeral Home 12901 Wicker Ave. Cedar Lake, IN. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at Burdan Funeral Home with Chaplain Greg Fry officiating. Burial will follow at German Methodist Cemetery, Cedar Lake.
Mr. Gary Shelby Boston, AKA "Uncle Gary" was born June 24, 1947, to the late Orville and Ella Boston in Little Rock, Arkansas. Gary moved to Indiana at an early age and graduated from Lowell High School in 1965. He then enlisted in the US Army and served from 1966-1968. Gary met and married Sheila and raised four girls together. His love of cars, fishing and dancing shined throughout his life, but nothing showed brighter than the love for his family.
Gary worked and retired from Inland Steel and is an active member of American Legion, POST 261 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles both of Cedar Lake, Indiana.
Gary was loved by many, and his influence will always remain the lives of everyone that knew him. Gary will forever be missed and loved by all.
