Gary Wayne Brawner, 73, of Dover, Oklahoma, passed away November 8, 2025. Gary was born on February 26, 1952, in
Kingfisher, Oklahoma, to Harold Dee Brawner and Mildred "Pinky" Brawner. He was raised in Dover and graduated from Dover Public Schools in 1970.
A proud lifelong resident of Dover, Gary was known for his hard work, generous heart, and unwavering faith. He lived his life as a reflection of his walk with God, steady, humble, and full of grace. His quiet presence carried great strength, and his smile brought comfort to so many. Gary never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His great big bear hugs could lift any spirit, and his booming voice and one-of-a-kind laugh could fill a room with warmth and joy.
Gary loved his country and was a true patriot. He believed deeply in faith, family, and freedom, and he lived those values daily. Whether flying the American flag proudly in his yard, showing respect for those who served, or lending a helping hand to neighbors, Gary lived with quiet dignity and gratitude for the blessings of life in this country.
A man of many talents, Gary worked for years as a truck driver before "parking the truck" to spend more time with his family and community. A skilled welder and mechanic, Gary could fix just about anything, and often did, never hesitating to help those in need. He also had a love of racing cars and enjoyed the simple satisfaction of a well-tuned engine.
Gary married the love of his life, Suzan (Firestone) Brawner, on December 27, 1974. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in love, faith, and service. One of their shared passions was their Dover project creating cheerful spaces that brought smiles to others, just as Gary did everywhere he went.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzan Brawner; his children, Sasha Brawner-Gilbert and husband Troy, and Patrick Brawner and wife Mary; his grandchildren, Dylan Stokes, Kelsey Gilbert, Shelby Gilbert, Elizabeth Brawner, and Paxton Brawner; his sister Judy Kidd and brother-in-law Alan Kidd; sister-in-law Lisa Feagins; brother-in-law Craig Firestone and wife Laura; nephews Brad Feagins, Clint Kidd, and Nick Kidd; and nieces Jessa Barnes, Alex Firestone, and Chrissy Firestone. Great-nephew Liam Hurndon
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Dee Brawner and Mildred "Pinky" Brawner.
Gary will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, but above all, as a man of deep faith and quiet strength. His life was a testament to God's love, lived out in everyday kindness, compassion, and joy. His booming laugh, warm hugs, and generous spirit will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those blessed to know him.
