Gary Jean Breaux, 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 7, 1963, in Lake Charles to Emelie Therese Castille and Larry Vernon Breaux.
Gary was a proud 1981 graduate of Barbe High School. He began his career working alongside his family at South City Paint and Supply before going on to own and operate Surface Effects Inc. for twenty years. He had a love for playing pool, fishing, and deer hunting. He was incredibly creative and talented, with an infectious personality that drew people to him. A devoted supporter of LSU Tigers athletics, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. Above all, Gary enjoyed life and treasured the time he spent with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Emelie Breaux; his sons, Tyler Breaux and Dylan Breaux; his siblings, Larry Breaux and wife Rhonda, Lisa Wilbanks, Lori Matzahn and husband Dan, and Angela Oquian and husband David; god child, Emily Martzahn; dear friend, Carol; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Vernon Breaux, and his son, Matthew Breaux.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Gary will be laid to rest at Prien Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
