Gary Waymon Buckland, 75, of Beckley, passed away on Sunday November 2, 2025 at his home with his wife by his side.
Born on September 18, 1950 in Sweeneysburg, he was the son of the late Waymon and Zetta (Williams) Buckland.
Gary served his country proudly in the Air Force for four years. While in the Air Force he went to the top dog training facility where he later came on to become a dog handling MP within the Air Force. After being honorably discharged he worked several jobs within the VA Hospital in Beckley.
In his spare time, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He spent many hours outside, teaching his wife, children and grandchildren all about the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Thornquest and a sister, Margaret Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Renee Buckland; a son, Bucky Hinte (Kelli) of Mount Hope, WV; son Michael James of Lawrenceburg, TN; daughter, Sharla James (Kevin) of Weston, WV; Brandon Buckland of Beckley, WV; Eric Buckland (Lisa) of Beckley, WV; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Maynor Freewill Baptist Church from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. All are welcome to stop in during these hours to show your condolences to the family.
