Gary Gene Carpenter

HOWARD: Gary Gene Carpenter, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Country Court Nursing Center.

He was born August 29, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Gilbert and Grace (Snyder) Carpenter. On January 24, 1970, Gary married Susie Lynn Hindman, and the two shared 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2024.

Gary worked in maintenance for Brown Township for 30 years before retiring, where his duties included mowing and snowplowing. Never one to sit still, he later worked for Pike Township for another 12 years.

In his spare time, Gary enjoyed farm life. He spent many hours working with his tractors, custom-baling round bales for local farmers for years. He also helped Susie operate Pigeon Roost Pine Grove, the family Christmas tree farm, and loved planting sunflowers.

Gary is survived by his sons, Eric (Nicole) Carpenter and Jason (Amber) Carpenter; his grandsons, Brent (Jasmine) Carpenter, Brandon (Abby) Carpenter, and Tyler Carpenter; his great-grandchildren, D'Shawn and Mia; and his siblings, Perry Carpenter and Diane McFadden.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susie.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home – Lindsey Chapel in Loudonville. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12 p.m. with Pastor John Temple officiating. Burial will follow at Sand Ridge Cemetery.
