Gary and friend Bob Shepard drove my brother from Connecticut to Oregon after high school graduation so that he could join our family after our move to Oregon in 1965. My parents were very close friends with Harland and Nellie and remained so for many years.
I have a very sweet story about Gary...he wore Brut cologne back in those days and he accidentally broke a bottle of it in our dad's trunk, somehow, during the visit to Oregon that summer in 1965. Until the day my dad sold that car, the smell of Gary's cologne was as strong as the day the bottle got broken.
So very sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Rest in peace, Gary. You were remembered fondly over the years.
With great respect,
Cynthia Flood Knutson

I was very sorry to read of Gary's passing. I worked with him at NU, and he was a wonderful person to work with in our various electrical safety programs. Please accept my deepest sympathy and I hope your lovely pictures and fond memories will comfort you at this sad time.
