Gary Hayden Danks

Southington - Gary H. Danks, 75, of Southington, CT, passed away on December 24 at Livewell in Plantsville, CT. Gary is survived by his wife of 39 years, Denise, as well as his four children Troy, Rob, Trevor, and Marisa, and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Hal and Nellie, his sister, Doria, and his grandson, Kieran. Gary was an Air Force veteran and a retired lineman/trainer who worked for Eversource for 32 years. Following retirement, he was a paraprofessional in the Southington school system working with elementary students. Gary was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Church where he had been a CCD teacher and Eucharistic minister. He also loved auto racing and was a longtime member of the Sailing Masters Fife and Drum Corps in his native town of Essex, CT. Gary was known for his extraordinary humor and was the person everyone wanted on their Trivial Pursuit team. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on January 11 at The Church of St. Dominic in Southington. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Livewell, whose staff provided him exemplary care in his final years, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
