Gary DeSilva Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services, Myrtle Beach on Sep. 18, 2023.
Gary T. DeSilva (Ghost), 71 of Myrtle Beach, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Gary was born in Newark, NJ, and grew up in Point Pleasant, NJ. To those who knew him, he was called (Ghost), a name he earned as a truck driver, and to his daughter, he was called (D). Gary proudly served in the United States Marine Corps when he joined in 1970. After the Marines, Gary enjoyed a lifelong career as a Truck Driver. He loved being able to drive all the different types of trucks he had driven over the years and the freedom of being on the road. Gary retired to Myrtle Beach in 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed living there with the new friends he had made. Those who knew him, know that Gary loved to talk and could talk for hours, especially if you needed help fixing something. He loved to work on his cars and motorcycle and always enjoyed helping anyone who needed help with anything. Gary was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He also loved to watch reruns of NCIS and loved cartoons like How to Train Your Dragon and The Thundermans. Gary always had a smile on his face and loved to joke and laugh, he will be greatly missed.
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and in our hearts."
Gary leaves behind in sorrow, his beloved daughters Crystal and husband Dino of New Jersey; Chelie (Paul) and two granddaughters Kelcey (Keith) and Haylee (Nick) and one great-grandson, Keith of Florida; Daughter-in-law, Llynne, and three grandsons Jeff (Larissa), Tyler and Lee of New Jersey. Along with two great-granddaughters Stella and Emilia. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy, of 28 years; son Jeff; father and mother John and Agnes; sister Donna; brother Jack.
Mr. Desilva is entrusted to the care of Kelvin F. Lewis, Funeral Director, and Lewis Crematory & Funeral Services of Myrtle Beach, SC.
