Gary G. DiCristo, age 69, passed away after an extended illness on January 20, 2026 at Wynn Hospital in Utica.
Born in Queens, NY on March 12, 1956, Gary was the son of the late Michael and Honoree “Ronny” (Hackett) DeCristo.
Upon the death of both of his parents by the age of 6, Gary was taken in by his paternal aunt and uncle, the late Santo and Eugenia (DeCristo) Telesco and their family of Rome, NY. They raised Gary as one of their own truly becoming his parents and his siblings.
Through the years, Gary overcame many of life’s obstacles and he worked for various companies in the area, including Revere Copper & Brass and the McIntosh Box & Pallett Company. He was gifted with a great sense of humor and a one-of-a-kind personality and he easily made friends. In recent years, he lived at Valentine Apartments in Rome, where he found a community of friends that he cherished.
Always first for Gary were his family. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. His presence will be truly missed by those he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Click and Rob Arensman; his grandchildren, A’miracolo Click-Arensman and Ariella Arensman; his sisters, Maria Elena DeCristo of California and Sandra Gerhardt of Rome; several close cousins, including Frank, Carl, Robert and Johanne DeCristo, Frank Pacenza, Jeanette (Pacenza) Hall, Barbara (Pacenza) Kembry, Ralph and Dick DeCristo and their families; along with may other cousins, aunt and uncles. He also leaves behind his good friend, David Pritchard.
He was predeceased by his parents; his two sisters, Paula and Catherine Telesco; his brother, William DeCristo; Sarah's mother, Sandra Click and special aunts, Millie and Anna Telesco.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation for Gary on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 11:00AM – 12:00 NOON at the All Saints Parish, PNCC, 801 Hickory Street, Rome, NY 13440. His Funeral Mass will commence at 12:00 NOON at the church, immediately upon the conclusion of visitation. Spring burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest in the family plot.
