Gary Lynn Dillehay, born January 28, 1962, in Jacksonville, AR, was sent to his eternal resting place on Thursday, July 10, 2025, due to health issues. Gary was the beloved son of Rev. Lee (Doc) and Betty Dillehay.
Gary went to Phineas Banning High School in Wilmington, CA and soon after joined The United States Air Force as a helicopter mechanic/crew chief and proudly served his country for four years. Upon his return home, Gary became an elevator mechanic. He then moved to Arkansas where he joined the elevator union and worked in Little Rock, AR. Following Arkansas, he worked in Longview, TX, Jackson, MS, and last stop was Shreveport, LA, where he retired in 2024. Gary became an elevator instructor in February of 2025 where he was in his element, teaching is what he loved most.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Lee (Doc) Dillehay.
His memory lives on with his Mom, Betty Dillehay; brother, Rick Dillehay (Marcia); niece, Katie Booth (Allen); nephews, Calvin Dillehay, Curtis and Jason Byrd; great-nieces, Millie and Lexie; and great-nephews, Cayne, Joshua, Phoenix, and Jonah.
A special thank you to all family and friends for their many prayers and outpouring of love and support through this difficult journey. Special thanks to his childhood friends in California and all his elevator friends.
Gary will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
