Mr. Gary Downs, age 83, of Cumberland City, Tennessee, passed away on February 11, 2026. He was born on August 6, 1942, the beloved son of Claude B. Downs and Laura Elizabeth Carter Downs.
Gary was a dedicated automotive mechanic and worked faithfully in his trade until his retirement. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time they spent together, whether gathered at his home or enjoying meals out. He had many friends and enjoyed visiting at the Westside market, sitting and watching traffic pass by, and sharing stories. Sharing a meal with his good friend, Darrell Howell always brought great joy. He especially enjoyed talking with Rhonda at the Carlisle Market, who always had news and interesting stories to share. Gary was a faithful servant of the Lord and a devoted member of LBL Church of Christ.
He is survived by his cherished daughters, Leann Cherry (Anthony) and Nina Norfleet (Bryan); his sisters, Patricia Bible (Doug) and Peggy Phipps; his grandchildren, Ashley Foss (Alex), Trenton Cherry (Maycee), Austin Bickford, Kaylee Davis, Conner Bickford, Tucker Bickford, and Lily Norfleet; and his great-grandchildren, Kade and Kollin Foss; Andrew, Juniper, and Matthew Cherry; Kingston Bickford; and Ezekiel and Malachi Davis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Anglin Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m., with Bro. Earl Claude and Bro. William Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Downs Cemetery, with Trent Cherry, Alex Foss, Kade Foss, Austin Bickford, Jacob Coleman, and Jeremiah Wojtal serving as pallbearers.
