It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Gary Bernard Duchesne, 67, of Monroe, Louisiana, who departed this life on December 8, 2024. A private family service was held to honor his life, officiated by Rev. Ricky Baker. Interment followed in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road.
Born on May 21, 1957, Gary was the beloved son of Willie Bernard Duchesne and Evelyn “Eva” Murray Duchesne, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brother, Charles “Charlie” Hansford of Texas. Gary’s memory lives on through his cherished nephew, Charles “Chuck” Hansford.
Gary was the proud owner and operator of Duchesne Prairie Road Grocery, a beloved cornerstone of the local community for many years. Known for his warm personality and hardworking nature, he touched the lives of many with his kindness and dedication.
Gary had a deep love for the outdoors and spent his happiest moments hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden and yard. He also took great pride in working on his truck, finding joy in the simple, meaningful tasks of daily life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, reflecting Gary’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Gary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to family and community will forever be remembered.
