It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of, Gary Charles Durieux Sr. on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He peacefully departed from this life in
Barberton, Ohio after many years of battling several health issues. Born on September 27, 1957 in
Barberton, Ohio. He was a remarkable individual who led a very full and fulfilling life. He was the beloved son of Ernest and Jacqueline (Weaver) Durieux. He resided most of his life in his hometown, good old Barberton, Oho except for his time in the National Guard in which he lived in Wayne, Michigan marking the beginning of many proud career choices in which he successfully excelled ultimately becoming a General Manager at G&J Industries, then Wooster Motor Ways Trucking Company and becoming a Licensed CDL Examiner. A very proud accomplishment of his to add to a long list of life endeavors. Gary will forever be remembered for his wisdom and how he always found the brighter, lighter side of life. Gary C. Durieux Sr. was a loving and cherished father to Crystal and Gary Durieux II. He was a doting and very special Papaw and Grandfather to, Kyla, Laren, Daniel, David and Aidan; as well as a Great-Grandfather and Papaw to Kaden, Kolson, Freya and Aurora who all brought so much light and joy to his life. Gary was so much more than just a Father and Papaw, he was a storyteller, a teacher and a constant source of wisdom and love. Preceded in death by grandparents, Berdella and Chuck Weaver; mother, Jacqueline; father, Ernest; brothers, Ernie and Don Durieux. Survived by his daughter, Crystal; son, Gary and wife, Amber; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; amongst other family members and friends along the way. Gary C. Durieux Sr. will forever be remembered for his priceless advice, his boisterous laugh and mischievous twinkle is his eye. Gary could always be counted on for his unwavering support, unconditional love and the best most thought out advice no matter what the subject. Gary unstilled in all of us his value of the importance of family, hard work and integrity as well as being a man of your word, Always. Gary was the most amazing father and Papaw was our hero, our Guiding Light, our secret keeper, our inspiration and will be greatly missed by us all. But he will live forever in our hearts and memories. A memorial service will be held for Gary on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Avenue,
Barberton, Ohio 44203 with Pastor Jeffrey Ziruolo officiating. His family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of the service. A "Celebration of Life" will be directly afterwards with a Balloon Launch in Honor of Gary at Daniel and Courtney Smith's residence, 109 19th Street, N.W.,
Barberton, Ohio 44203. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
