Gary Keith Evenson, age 77, of Baxter, MN passed away on December 21, 2023 at his home in Baxter.
He was born in Kewanee, IL on December 11, 1946 to Curtis and Donna (Hier) Evenson. He was raised and graduated from high school in 1964 IN Lansford, ND. He attended Minot State University and Moorehead State University. He served in the United States Army from 1966-1968. He was a lineman in the North Dakota area and was also a journeyman electrician in Coal Creek, North Dakota.
He married Deborrah Johnson in Minot, ND in 1978. They owned and managed Motel 75 in Breckenridge, MN. He served as an alderman on the city council for 6 years and was a member of the Bois D Sioux Golf Club. They moved to Baxter, MN in 1990. He was employed at the Crow Wing Assessors office until his retirement.
He had a passion for car restoration and was a longtime member of the Hudson Car Club and Northern Tin Club in Brainerd, and a member at Eagles Landing Golf Club.
He is survived by his loving wife Deborrah, his daughter Carla (Scott) Kruger of Merrifield, MN, his son Grant (Eliza) Evenson of Washington, grandchildren Cody, Reid, Ava, and Fiona, great grandchildren Mason and Madden, his sister Linda, his brothers Don, many nieces and nephews, his brothers in law David Johnson and Mitchell (Marilee) Johnson, and sister in-law Melissa (Bob) McConnell.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy, brothers Brett and Roger, and nephew Jeremy Evenson.
At Gary’s request, there will be no services held. A private graveside service will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, ND.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
