Gary "Cowboy" Richard Everson, 72, of Clay Banks, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, following complications from cancer treatment.

Gary was born July 21, 1953, to Allen and Betty (Johnson) Everson. Gary grew up in Seymour and graduated with the Class of 1972.

Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, Gary became a devoted member of the Drifters Motorcycle Club, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant at Arms. He found freedom and joy on the open road, riding alongside lifelong friends he cherished deeply.

Gary worked for many years as an HVAC technician with Wesley Heating and Cooling in Green Bay. Known for his sharp mechanical mind and meticulous craftsmanship, he remained a trusted source of advice and expertise even into retirement. At home, Gary surrounded himself with his extensive collection of model cars and motorcycles, each one a reflection of his passion for machines. He was also an avid history enthusiast and enjoyed nothing more than watching Western films or a classic episode of Star Trek.

He is survived by his three sons: Allen (Lina) Everson of Clay Banks; Eric (Valerie) Everson of Hartford; and Kyle Everson of Bellevue; two grandchildren: Blaine and Soleil; his former wife, Renee Everson of Shawano; his sister, Pamela (David) Nowak of Bonduel; two brothers: Kenneth (Lisa) Everson of Hobart, and Harold Johnson of Neenah; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Bucky. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Chris and Bill Everson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 23, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, 1600 Schinderle Lane, Algoma, from 9 AM until the time of services at 12 PM with Pastor Peter Mannoja officiating. There will be a motorcycle procession led by his club brothers escorting him to his final resting place at Clay Banks Cemetery after the service with Full Military Rites.

Sorry for your loss, Gary and I were in school together and were close friends ever since through car clubs, bike clubs, social clubs, co-workers, and most recently card games. Gary lived with me for a while in the 70's.
I will miss him greatly.
