GARY FENSTEMAKER
Gary Stanley Fenstemaker, age 87, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson, Festus, Missouri. He was born February 22, 1935 in Lawrence, Kansas, a son of the late Stanley and Letha (Hallmark) Fenstemaker.
On April 2, 1969 in Clayton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Maureen Joan Singleton. Together they shared fifty years of marriage before her passing on June 27, 2019.
Gary was raised in Lawrence, Kansas and after graduating high school, he attended Aircraft School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began working for TWA before enlisting in the United States Army. He served as aircraft mechanic in the Army before being honorably discharged. He returned to work for TWA in St. Louis, Missouri and retired as a lead mechanic after thirty-eight years of service. Gary and Maureen retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1992.
He was a member of the Lake Area Amateur Radio Club and occasionally helped the Gravois Mills Fire Department with communications. In his spare time, he enjoyed drag racing and motorcycles. He was a Ham Radio operator and played the guitar. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and boating.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph Fenstemaker of Decatur, Tennessee, James Fenstemaker of Hixon, Tennessee, Gary Wayne Cross of Winfield, Missouri; two daughters, Lisa Myers and husband Timothy of DeSoto, Missouri and Dawn Files of St. Charles, Missouri; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Alan Fenstemaker of Atlanta, Georgia and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, St. Charles, Missouri. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday August 18, 2022 at Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
