Gary Flahive Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 27, 2025.
Gary John Flahive, 75, passed away on October 21, 2025. Born on June 6, 1950, Gary lived a life defined by service, hard work, devotion to family, and a love for the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane Flahive, and their children: Jenny Boudreau (Derek), Julie Runnells, Jason Flahive (Kelsey), Troy Flahive, and Gavin Flahive (Megan). Gary was a proud grandfather to Angelena, Sydney, James, Kathryn, Cora, and Anna, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his brother, David Flahive and countless nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Francis B. Flahive and Myrtle A. Reed, as well as his siblings Francis Flahive, Richard Flahive, and Gaye Hastings.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he built a long and accomplished career as a skilled carpenter, known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail. Later, he transitioned into a new adventure as an over-the-road truck driver, traveling across the country before eventually retiring.
Even in retirement, Gary rarely sat still. He spent countless hours working to improve his and Diane's retirement home. He enjoyed camping, cheering for his beloved Green Bay Packers, and lending a hand to his kids with home improvement projects - always ready with advice, tools, and a smile.
Gary will be remembered for his work ethic and his deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he built, the homes he helped create, and the hearts he touched.
Funeral services will be private for immediate family. A memorial celebration of life will be planned for June 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
