Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at McDonald Funeral Home.
Services are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Rev. Jeremy Buras will officiate at the service.
A native of New Orleans, LA, he was a self employed drywall finisher. Gary was a hard worker, told the best dad jokes, and was the life of the party. He was a wonderful cook who enjoyed family gatherings. Gary loved the Lord and shared the gospel and prayed with anyone who needed it. He loved to fish enjoyed anything competitive but was a sore loser.
He was always there for his family and will be truly missed. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Franklin Fortner, Sr. and Janice Douglas Fortner.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Heidi Miller Fortner, daughter, Natalie (Casey) Ulmer, son, Gary (Rebecca) Fortner, Jr., son, Kristofer Fortner, son, Matthew (Eva) Fortner; 18 grandchildren, Abigail, Logan, Audrey, Ian, Autumn, Emilee, Gary III, Hayden, Jade, Noah, Lesleigh, Mia, Blake, Kaylee, Titus, Zoee, Madison, Austin; great grandchildren, Logan Jr., Silas and Vivian; brothers, Eddie (Diane) Fortner, Jr., and Justin (Patty) Fortner.
