Gary T. Grady, age 56, longtime Worcester resident, passed away unexpectedly on February 16, 2024.  He is survived by his sister, Jacquelyn (Grady) Miller and her husband, David Miller, of Rhode Island; two nephews, Alexander and Dominic; an aunt, uncle and cousins.  He also leaves behind a group of true friends - thankful and blessed for their friendships over the years.  Gary was predeceased by his parents, Thomas W. Grady in 1991 and Jeanne T. (Query) Grady in 2018.  It brings us peace knowing that he has been reunited with loved ones who he deeply missed.

Born in Worcester, he grew up in the Webster Square area where he graduated from South High School and Quinsigamond Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Gary was a devoted cherished son and took wonderful care of his mother during her period of declining health - being her personal caretaker for over 10 years.  He was an awesome loyal friend and a great neighbor, always lending a hand and enjoying conversations with many over the years.  He loved his yard, took care of it meticulously and always had fun entertaining with friends.  Away from home, Newport Rhode Island was the place that gave him the most joy and peace.  He loved with all his Irish heart - it's hard to put into words how truly wonderful he was.

Gary was most proud of his company which he started 25 years ago, Gary's Lawn Service.  With an incredibly strong work ethic, he established a full-service lawn and landscape maintenance business.  He built a very large customer base which continued to grow year after year as a result of his dedication and eagerness to provide top notch quality service and exceptional customer care.  Gary was very humble and proud as he would look back at the road that got him to where he was today.  He continued to work at many jobs over the years while maintaining his business and always enjoyed many of the client friendships he made throughout this time.

Gary was an avid sports fan, especially football, and was most passionate with all New England teams.  He saw them win numerous championships and attended hundreds of games over the decades - most recently the Army-Navy game at Gillette Stadium.  Throughout his life, his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.  He traveled all over the country, including the Super Bowl, to watch them play.  Over the years, Gary amassed a cool collection of vintage pieces/signs and sports memorabilia from all his adventures.  He made home his haven and it truly represented who he was.

Among other interests, music was another great passion.  He loved classic rock - Bruce Springsteen being his favorite.  Gary saw him perform over 50 times.  He had an extensive vinyl collection that he was very proud of.  He also loved classic cars from the 60's & 70's, especially Oldsmobiles.  Over the years, he enjoyed his favorite trucks and a few "sweet rides" which were his prized possessions.

Gary loved all of his closest friends dearly and cherished the times they spent together. Some of his fondest memories were concerts, sporting events, Newport RI, or just hanging out. He was "that guy" who would give you the shirt off his back and lend support whenever needed - you could always count on Gary!  He will be remembered for his big heart and kindness to all.  His passing leaves us heartbroken but his memories will remain with us forever.  This world as we know it has truly lost a gem.  "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal."  Irish quote

The family extends their gratitude to all who have reached out and shared their favorite stories during this difficult time. Gary touched the souls of so many.  He was one-of-a-kind and we will cherish all the memories.

A memorial service was held privately in Worcester.  If you would like to make a donation in Gary's memory, please donate to a charity of your choice or to a local animal shelter, as he loved dogs.

Our world will never be the same ... his light went out and ours is forever dimmed.  Gary, you will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.  Take a minute out of your day, listen to a Bruce Springsteen song and think of him.
