"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10
On September 2, 1944, in Nashville, TN, Mr. John and Bessie Hodge welcomed a son to their home and named him Gary.
Gary received his primary and secondary education through the public school system in Nashville, TN.
From a very young age, Gary showed a remarkable work ethic and determination. He began working early in life, building the foundation for what would become a lifetime of entrepreneurship.
Over the years, he owned and operated several successful businesses including a body shop and other ventures each a reflection of his skill and drive.
In 1970, Gary moved to Stuart, Florida, to begin a new life of love, hard work and dedication to his family and community. He opened Guaranteed Repair and Home Appliance, serving the entire Treasure Coast community, building many life-long friendships with many of his customers and colleagues.
In later years when he entered his semi-retired phase of life, Gary would often be found sitting around the store chatting with staff and customers who stopped by for a purchase, repair or just a good conversation.
In his leisure time, Gary lived life to the fullest. Whenever given the opportunity, he thoroughly enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. The joy that would fill his heart to see them smiling and enjoying a day around the pool or a night out at dinner.
He found peace and pleasure in the simple things of life
Though his physical presence is no longer here with us, we rejoice in knowing that he has found eternal rest with our lord and savior.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carolyn Scott, Maggie Griffis, her husband John and his sister-in-love, Patricia Armstrong.
His memory and legacy will continue in the hearts of his children, Gary Hodge, Jr., Karen Hodge Calvin Hodge, Tonya(Marquis) Hargrove; brother, Harry Armstrong; grandchildren, Kimberly Hodge-Muckle, Tiffany Hodge, Orlando Mitchell, Hayden and Brayden Hargrove; special nieces, Claudia Williams and Allecia Dixon; godchildren, Julian Holmes, and Voloria Washington; devoted friends, Ned Gilmore and Toni O'Neal; A host of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him deeply.
